上の例文からも分かるとおり、drop off は、状況によって訳し方が異なる表現のひとつです。ですが、すべての状況に共通するのは、「どこか別の所に行くついでに（別の場所へ向かう途中で）」誰か（何か）を送り届ける、というニュアンスが含まれているということです。つまり、何か（誰か）を drop off する場所が最終目的地ではなく、その後、別の場所へ向かう、もしくは元の場所へ戻る、というニュアンスが drop off にはあるのです。
